Welcome to the West Coast Lock Collectors Association website and welcome to the fascinating world of locks.  Our purpose here is to inform you about the collecting of locks and keys of all kinds and to put you in contact with other collectors. 

People use locks and keys every day to secure their homes and property. Yet most people simply accept them and have no idea of the ingenuity and history that are behind them. Lock making is one of the oldest professions of man and makes use of every ingenious mechanical invention that we have learned throughout the ages. Some very famous people were lock collectors, for example George Washington and Catherine the Great. What intrigues and fascinates us about locks and keys has done the same for many people for at least the past 2000 years. The mechanical ingenuity, historical significance, and sheer artistry displayed in old locks and keys are what keep us interested in this hobby.
